CHILDREN in Nottingham who are being bullied at school can get advice from a new website. Anti-bullying expert Abbi Morrall has set up the site to help youngsters who feel they have nowhere else to turn. It offers help, advice, support, games and forums for them.

WEBSITE OF THE WEEK: abs-kids.co.uk Set up by 16-year-old Abbi Morrall, herself a bullying victim, Abs-Kids aims to help children who are being bullied through relating various bullying experiences, providing plenty of information, videos and an online question facility. There's help for parents, advice on how to cope with bullying, and even an ABS diary where victims can log bullying incidents.

Anti Bullying

A teenager from the Midlands who was taunted and teased at school has set up an anti bullying website to provide help to other youngsters that are being bullied.

17 year old Abbi  from Hinckley put together the site for kids from the age of 5 upwards after spending years not talking to anyone about what she was going through.

On it there's things like examples of other youngsters experiences, postcasts and a live online chat facility.

Abbi has been speaking to Heart about why she wanted to set up the website,

"I have decided to set up my own website to help others. When I first started school I was bullied and I was bullied for about six years of my schooling life. I know how it feels to be bullied and it’s not very nice. However I never told my parents, friends or family. I kept it all bottled up and wouldn’t let it out. You say a form of bullying and I have been bullied in that way. I suffered the name calling, the teasing and suffered threats from both individuals and groups. I was kicked and punched, shoved over in the playground and generally had a pretty miserable time at school. At an early age I thought it was me who had the problem not the bullies.

But as time went on, I realised that what I was going through was wrong and that my school years should be something that I enjoyed. I was bullied by both boys and girls, some that were younger than me and some who were older. It was a very frightening time and not one that I would want to go through again. I was first bullied at primary school and it continued on into Junior school. But it was then that things changed for me. I got involved in the School Council and also became a Peer Mentor at my school. I spent my lunchtimes listening to other kids who were being bullied and I tried to help them any way I could. The hardest part was getting them to talk to their parents or a teacher about what was happening. I then joined the Anti-Bullying Alliance and attended conferences and learnt what help was out their for bullied children. I learnt how best to deal with the problem and who to approach for help.

Over the years the different forms of bullying have changed and I have learnt about these as it helps me help others through the site. Sometimes telling someone can be the hardest part but that is why I am here to help. I’m here for you to talk to me and tell me your problems. Don’t be ashamed or embarrassed because if you need help then I am here for you. Even if you just want to ask a question then feel free and ask away. Or maybe you just want to find out more about my experiences. All you have to do is ask. Any questions that you may have will be confidential unless you would like me to enter it onto my website to give advice to others."
